Summer...Summer...Summer...

The UN-Official "Start of Summer" Weekend!

Exactly!
I don't know what YOU are doing but THIS is what I have been doing since last weekend. Preparing for that all too important Summer that goes by way too quickly! Below are some photos of the 'after' project. We still have a TON of stuff to do in the yard before I can even THINK about 'singing on our deck.' Yes, that would be the deck that isn't built yet, but in the works- slider and all! :)

Soooooooo, what are YOU doing this long weekend? Tell us of any special music events or food happenings or anything you think needs a 'shout-out' for the preperation of Summer. Enjoy it out there and be safe!!

Yeah, and this is just ONE side of the yard! Ben-Gay anyone? ;)

Just let us know what you're doing this weekend anyway! Even if it's a great 'weekend house project' idea. What are good flowers to plant in a flower box?? My Naldo's friend Sam now owns the old Cherrystones in Oakland beach, it's now called Upper Bay. Nice weekend to check it out!

I don't think I have to tell ANY of you anymore, who my favorite artists is do I?

With THAT said, have any of you checked out her new album? Thanks to my cousin CiCi, I got my copy!! This album goes back to 'Funk Basics!' I personally think that this is going to be one you either love or hate, no in-between. I don't need to tell you how I feel about it, I'm sure.

With all the R&B and slick technical beats that we have come to know, I think we have forgotten about old school FUNK! This album brings it back in full swing and oh how I've missed it! The re-vamp with some old Rufus chums gets me all fired up!

Check out Chaka's official myspace to catch all the buzz. Happy listening!

Best Wishes Alexis!!

Alexis made it through the Philly Auditions!!!
At THIS point, we can no longer discuss Alexis' journey (legally), but that can be GREAT news! Either way, I am SURE you all want to send her your well wishes and this is what I will use this space for. Please send Alexis your thoughts by commenting below (click on 'comments').

Southern New England American Idol

As you all know by now, my cousin Alexis ("Lexy," as we call her, from my "Tavares" side of the family) Brown won the Southern New England American Idol Contest. To think, she wasn't even going to go! She went to the Gillette Stadium audition last year and stood in the rain for 8 hours! After my cousin (her uncle) David Tavares asked her if she really wanted it at that moment, her answer was YES! That's the kind of thing that seperates the Women from the girls and the Men from the boys. You can't deny, my girl is BIT by the bug! All of us at RIMC wish her the best and I love that RIMC is all about the great talent we have in New England! Am I right?

New RIMC Blog Post

Hey everyone,

I decided to start a new blog for the RI Music Club. There is so much to talk about in the RI Music scene and just about RI itself! Has anyone seen the Best of Rhode Island issue of Rhode Island Monthly magazine? Let me know what you think and fill us all in on YOUR favorites, what ever they may be! I'll be sure to let everyone know what true Rhode Islander's think!

MY Favorites that I think are right on:

*Best Brunch: The Bay Voyage- Jamestown
*Best Restaurant/ bar for over 40: The Hi-Hat

I simply LOVE the Bay Voyage Inn. The Bay Voyage boasts one of Rhode Island's best restaurants and catering facilities with its superb cuisine, impeccable service, and breathtaking views. Additionally, we offer 32 finely appointed one-bedroom suites, including parlor areas with kitchenettes and separate sleeping areas.

My husband and I try to get there as much as we can. We are planning a weekend get-a-way there VERY shortly!

Hey, don't forget to check out the links to the right, there are some VERY nice places to visit! ;)
